Ashton, 4th Grade

Ashton loves living in New York City. When he grows up, he dreams of living here and making it a safe and better place to live.

“I want to be a police officer so I can stop people from hurting each other,” he says. “This is my
home, and I don’t ever want to leave it.”

Ashton ‘s school pride hints at what motivates his desire to join the NYPD. This fourth grader likes wearing his uniform to Our Lady of Grace. Whether it ‘s in the classroom or on the basketball court , the school uniform instills a sense of pride that is obvious wherever he goes. He also has a look of serenity when discussing how safe he feels in his school.
“Everyone at this school is friends with each other,” he says. “I never feel nervous here, and I miss it during the summer.”

Thanks to the scholarship he began receiving in 2018, Ashton was able to remain at Our Lady of Grace when tuition bills became insurmountable at home. According to his teachers , he is making the most of his opportunities! He loves math and religion, has a 91 GPA, and enjoys going to Mass with his classmates. He really appreciates the way his teachers inspire him to do better.

“They teach me to treat others with love and push me to work harder so that I can go to high school and college ,” he says. “We have great teachers. ” On a scale of 1 to 10, his experience has been a 10, he says.
