Tax Credit to Support Scholarships

New York is officially opting in to the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit (FSTC). This program could direct millions of new dollars toward New York students and expand educational opportunities.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who advocated for the FSTC.

Through the FSTC, taxpayers who give to approved scholarship granting organizations (SGOs) may receive a dollar-for-dollar federal tax credit.

Simply put, you can direct a portion of your federal tax bill to support a student’s education.

The state’s next step is to designate which organizations qualify as SGOs. We will share updates as they become available.
